The Continuing Quest for a Better Fire Pit
The annual Dad & Me Campout wouldn't be complete without a bonfire. We want to keep the School lawns in good condition - so we've designed a better fire pit.
UPDATE:
The test was a success!! We had a great time and tested our boat. The fire in the boat reached over 1000 degrees F, but the ground didn't even break 100 F.
History:
As noted above, we needed to protect the school fields when making our bonfire, so we teamed up with the Weston Arts & Innovation Center to devise a better design.
After our brainstorming session, we decided on a metal boat - which will be lifted off the ground, and also partially filled with loam as fire-proof insulation.
Joel, Zachary, and Alex found a boat.
Bring the family and come help us test out the design - we'll fire up some burgers, beverages, and the boat. Feel free to bring something to put on the grill if you'd like! We'll also have Weston Fire Department help us assess ground temperature and keep things under control.
